About us

The purpose of the Freedom Area Recreation Council is to build a public recreation program using public school buildings, grounds, parks and facilities, volunteers and local organizations, both public and private to stimulate interest in promoting and furthering the cause of recreation.

The Freedom Area Recreation Council is comprised of Elected Officers, Board Members, Program Representatives and interested individuals who share a common interest in recreational activities in the South Carroll area. All members are volunteers except for the Community Coordinator who serves as a liaison with the Carroll County Bureau of Recreation. The Freedom Area Recreation Council works in cooperation with the Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks.
     
The Freedom Area Recreation Council oversees the general operation of all programs sponsored by or affiliated with the Council. The Community Coordinator schedules all school and athletic fields for our recreational use.
Program fliers are distributed in Carroll County Public Schools in September, December, April and June. 


Freedom Area Recreation Council reminds you to park only in designated areas and obey “NO PARKING ZONES” at all school and park facilities.

To All Parents of children participating in FARC events and programs. Please remember that use of school/public facilities is a privilege allowed us by the individual school principal. Please ensure that your children are supervised at all times, especially siblings of program participants. All children must be escorted into and out of the building.
Carroll County Commissioners No Smoking policy states that the use of tobacco products is prohibited, within 50 yards of the playing field or site, immediately before, during, or immediately after a recreation council sponsored youth activity. No smoking is allowed inside or on school property. Your cooperation will assure our continued use of school/public property.

Carrolltowne Elementary, Eldersburg Elementary, Freedom Elementary, Piney Ridge Elementary, Linton Spring Elementary & Community Room, Oklahoma Road Middle School, Sykesville Middle School, Liberty High School, Century High School, South Carroll High School, South Carroll Senior Center and Community Center, Fairhaven Park, Freedom Park, Freedom Optimist Center, Hodges Park, Old Liberty Road Park, Springfield Hospital Center, Faith Lutheran Church, Krimgold Park

The Freedom Area Recreation Council meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00PM at the South Carroll Senior Center & Community Center, 5928 Mineral Hill Rd., Eldersburg, Md
